MONSTER-NIKS
One of the more cute/fun vintage monster toys from the 1960s/70s is these Monster Nik dolls. These little monster troll dolls consisted of a regular Wishnik/Troll body, molded in green plastic and an awesome monster head.
I don’t remember what started my monster collection back in the day, just that they were so awesome maybe? At some point, I decided to start amassing a huge collection of monster toys of all shapes and sizes to increase my growing army of toys. My collecting frenzy of monster stuff had no rules. If it was a toy that looked in anyway monstery, be it a space monster, a Universal monster, a fantasy monster, or other type of monster; it was eligible for monster collection membership.
Back in the day, Monster-Niks fit the profile. That still holds true today.
The Monster-Niks were a killer addition to my collection at the time. They made three different monsters: Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and King Kong. All three Monster-Niks came in a variety of colors and outfits. Bootleg figures called Monster Men also exist that look like second tier cheap, naked Monster-Niks but still super FUN. I never was bias as long as it was monstery. Even though Trolls were called Trolls when I was a kid, they were also called Wishniks. So there you go. Wishnik, Monster-Nik, it makes sense, it’s monstery and trollish and although small they pack a punch with huge monster impact! Soooooooo Cool! Sooooooooo Amazing!
