Episode 331: Bloodbeat

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring except for the spirit of an ancient samurai in Wisconsin possessing a young girl so that whenever she has an orgasm, someone dies.

Your traditional Christmas tale.

Join Ron and Little Miss Horror Nerd as they bring in Christmas Day with the little known, straight to VHS, less than B-horror flick, Bloodbeat from 1983 from a writer/director that when he watched the movie back more than 20 years later couldn’t follow the plot himself.

Should be fun.

Episode 330: Silent Night

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat.  Santa is here to murder you if you’ve been bad.

You think things have been bad for you this year? Thank your stars that you don’t live in Decatur, Wisconsin. If you do and you’ve done anything remotely questionable the entire year, Santa may be coming for your soul.

I don’t know if it’s the weather.  I don’t know if it’s the political climate. I don’t know if it’s the cheese, but everyone in this small town are assholes — even during the most wonderful time of the year. Unfortunately for them, Santa don’t like assholes and he has an entire arsenal of weapons with which to rip your asshole from your body.

We are one week closer to Christmas, so join us for the second of our Christmas horror series, 2012’s Silent Night…

Episode 329: To All A Good Night

Ho, ho, ho!

Christmas time is here and that means it’s time for the crew from The Resurrection of Zombie 7 Podcast to dive into some of that Christmas Horror.  We are going to start our month long horror celebration of the holiday by travelling back to 1980 and the beginnings of the slasher subgenre with…

220px-To_All_a_Good_Night

Directed by genre favorite, David Hess and starring Jennifer Runyon in her first film appearance, To All A Good Night has a somewhat historical sidenote to it.  It’s the first feature length film to feature Santa Claus as a killer.  That might seem somewhat mundane to today’s horror audience, but back in 1980, that was a big deal.  The fact that it was an independent horror film with a limited release and virtually no advertising saved it from the kind of protests Silent Night, Deadly Night would receive a few years later.

Some very horny girls are spending the holidays at their finishing school, but a very creepy Santa Claus is going to see to it that many of them don’t make it to the actual holiday. An early slasher, To All A Good Night, hits all the slasher tropes and even adds a bit of a twist.

Join Ron and Little Miss Horror Nerd as they run from Santa, question English accents and figure out if horror movie characters are supposed to actually care that their friends are dying.

Episode 328: You’re Next/Home Sweet Home

It’s the holiday season!  For a moment, let’s pretend it’s not a COVID holiday season.

You’re sitting down at the table with your family to enjoy a nice bit of turkey dinner complete with all the sides.  Everyone is at the table. For some of these people, it may be the only time of the year you get to see them.  It’s warm and bright inside to parallel the cold and darkness outside.  Your belly is about to be full of hot, warm food and your soul is full of family goodness…

…until someone comes along and murders you and you’re entire family. This is a horror podcast.  Did you think this was going to go well? For November 2020, we have a table spread of family get togethers in horror films.

First up…

next

From 2011/13, You’re Next is a home invasion crossed with a slasher.  The body count is high, the twist and turns are higher as the Davison family gathers on the 35th anniversary of the parents of the family.  A group of former military assailants armed with crossbows are not happy about this and murder ensues.

The second film of our double feature is a little known slasher from 1981…

homesweethme

Home Sweet Home is the rare horror film that actually takes place on Thanksgiving. As was the case in the early 80s, an escaped mental patient ruins the holiday, basically by trying to kill everyone.

Come sit with us at our table and let’s feast on this buffet of horror.
