Unleash Hell 19

frankie
The Addams Family, the American television series based on the characters in Charles Addams’ New Yorker cartoons, along with The Munsters gave me years of entertaining and funny MONSTER Memories! I always loved these shows!
First Up, I have Uncle Fester’s Mystery Bulb
2
The box graphics on this thing are just killer and always were the best part of this novelty toy but I have to admit I walked around with this in my ear/mouth or anywhere I could get it to magically light up for hours on end. The ghoulish and ooky spooky Uncle Fester on the front in a creepy shade of green invited you to try this thing out daily!.
8This bulb toy (with the help of a piece of aluminum foil) allowed Addams fans to perform this magic on their own. Dangerously enough as a lot of 60s 70s toys were you could  easily screw this bulb into any lamp socket! Knowing this toy might cause a possible fire or electrocution would most certainly evoke a sly smile on the faces of the entire Addams clan. A creeped out and deranged, nostalgic memento from a 1960s TV show classic!
Next Up is the ADDAMS FAMILY 1965 Thing Bank.
7
The bank is a battery operated novelty toy modeled on the disembodied hand (Thing) in the Addams Family. I LOVE the Thing and LOVED this bank. Not sure it produced much savings for me but it did produce hours of fun. Again the box graphics are amazing and inside the box you would find another small black box with a coin holder slot on top. Put a coin in it, the box starts to scarily shake like there’s something in it, then a green spooky hand moves up and grabs the coin. I remember this so well from my childhood I would run around and show anybody that was near me how this thing worked…LOL. This bank also came with a caucasian hand in later years…

Indie Horror film Contracted stars Najarra Townsend  and was released November 22, 2013. Contracted was written and Directed by Eric England who also wrote and directed the horror film Madison County.

This film revolves around a young girl named Samantha. Samantha is a lesbian who has recently moved out of the apartment she shared with her girlfriend Nikki. Based on Sam’s attitude it doesn’t seem it was her choice. Sam attends her friend, Alice’s party to which Nikki never shows up. At some point in the evening, Sam ends up in a car having sex with a mysterious man (Ed Note: She’s not a very good lesbian) named BJ (good one whoever named this guy) . We are never really sure whether this encounter is consensual or whether BJ date rapes Sam. During the encounter, Sam is saying no and that she wants to stop and later in the film it is revealed BJ may have roofied her.

contractedSam wakes up the next morning in a pile of what one would assume is menstrual blood with a rash and a stomachache (Ed Note:  Haven’t we all). And let me tell you this is one really bad period Sam is having! Sam suspects that she has perhaps contracted a venereal disease from her encounter with BJ and visits the doctor. What is not clear to Sam but is to the viewers is that she is decaying from the inside out! Who is BJ?  Why is he picking up ladies and passing whatever this is on purposely?  Why doesn’t he seem affected by the virus? Unfortunately we don’t really get any answers about BJ but the film works anyway. Perhaps we will get a sequel that will be BJ’s story.

This film is a slow burn. If you are expecting tons of zombie action — this is not the film for you. I’m not even 100 % certain this is a zombie film. It could very well be a commentary on AIDS or sexual violence. Maybe it is some sort of super AIDS that advances at light speed. If you lived through the 80s and you saw what happened to those AIDS victims you can probably imagine this not being that far off. I felt sorry for Sam. Her life was over before it even started and simply because she was penetrated by the wrong guy. Based on the amount of vaginal bleeding Sam experienced, I expected this to be written by a woman. I pleasantly surprised when I saw it was a man! He is obviously not squeamish about bleeding vaginas but if you are, I do not recommend this film. You will be disgusted.

One notable scene involved Sam and a man who had been crushing on her. She had been blowing him off all the way up until the night of the party but three days into her ordeal looking like death warmed over she invited him over. And then, SHOCKER he agrees to have sex with her WITHOUT a condom (Ed Note: Again, I question her being a lesbian, but of course he did — he’s a dude)! And then has the nerve to get upset with her when maggots fall out of her vagina while they are fucking. Boys really are stupid. (Ed Note: Um…..condom or not, I think this is a legit complaint)

I really enjoyed this film.  The acting wasn’t great with the exception of Najarra Townsend but the story was engaging enough that I didn’t mind. There was plenty of gore, a few murders, and little to no nudity. Sorry boys no boobs! I’m looking to seeing the beautiful Najarra in future films. This film is currently available on Netflix Streaming.

Episode 88: ONE NIGHT STAND – The Cabin in the Woods

cabinIt took awhile because it was hard to escape The Cabin in the Woods, but your valiant host and co-hosts did it!  The horrors Ron, Little Miss Horror Nerd and the returning Hammer have seen in order to bring you this podcast!

Today, you will get the Resurrection of Zombie 7’s longest podcast to date!  It’s the director’s unedited version of the show clocking in at almost three hours long!  That’s three hours for the price of one!  Jay of the Dead would be so proud.

Despite what you may hear — everyone had a group hug afterwards and are still friends.

Old Timey Tuesday 09: The Room Where the Ghosts Live

Welcome to a simpler time.  A time where the sound of wind against shutters could keep you up at night wondering what could be out there.  What could be watching.  Waiting.

Welcome to a time where the dark was darker, the cold was colder and the fear more chilling. Nothing is as frightening as what you can create deep in the black crevices of your mind.  Welcome to…

 OLD TIMEY TUESDAY

scary

Quiet, Please was a radio show that ran for two years from June 1947 to June 1949.  It was the brainchild of Wyllis Cooper, who also created the popular Lights Out! Quiet Please was known for it’s quality writing and acting — a step up from the average horror radio show.  Quite, Please was different in Lights Out! in that it focused on acting and atmosphere as opposed to gruesome sound effects.

“The Room Where the Ghosts Live” first aired December 1, 1948
