Unleash Hell 25

frankieAs a kid I loved anything ape related, hence my passion for Planet of the Apes and KING KONG to this day.

I had numerous ape related toys growing up but none of the King Kong toys captured my imagination like this one!

MARX KING KONG WIND-UP MONSTER

I loved this guy! I think I always felt bad for King Kong and this toy let me imagine a good ending for the ape, at least in my mind he lived on and on! This toy was a plush covered Kong with glass eyes, manacled arms and a metal collar around his neck. When wound up (if you had the wind up version) King Kong walks, thumps chest, opens and closes mouth, and changes direction. Let me tell you first hand, if you brought this toy outside in the brush and layed down to observe the mayhem, this toy was the absolute best!

King Kong the giant movie monster that resembled a colossal size gorilla has appeared in several movies since 1933 and the character has become one of the world’s most famous monster movie icons! LONG LIVE KONG!

MURDER ON THE GREEN

index(9)

The Greenskeeper is horror comedy released in 2002 that stars John Rocker, a retired American Major League Baseball relief pitcher (Ed Note: And noted bigot).

index(8) (3)The story centers around Allen, a young man who is an unsuccessful screenwriter  but whose mother and stepfather own a golf course. Allen works at said golf course, smokes pot and generally goofs off in his free time (Ed Note: So….everyone who has ever worked at a golf course). This golf course has a legend about a greenskeeper who was burned in a fire years ago and now lives in a shack in the woods vowing revenge on those responsible. When Allen sneaks his friends in to the course one night to party and they start dying, obviously it’s the Greenskeeper coming back for revenge!

My favorite type of horror movie is a slasher so I chose this movie despite the odd concept and bad reviews because I hoped it would make me laugh at the very least. I was not wrong. Do not misunderstand me. This is NOT a good film. The acting is terrible. The production seemed cheap and it was just a corny mess. However, it did make me giggle quite a few times. It was sort of a cross between Caddyshack and Friday the 13th if you replaced the actors in those films with people you grabbed off the street who had no experience or skill whatsoever (Ed Note: Hey, don’t give away the secrets of the Leprechaun franchise!).

images(10)

A few of the kills were actually pretty fun. One party goer was impaled on some sort of gadget and the killer ground up his dick with it (Ed Note: I’m going to go on a limb and guess it was a ball cleaner). There was also a couple having sex who were impaled with one of those flags that mark the holes on a golf course. My personal favorite was the guy impaled with a sprinkler head which promptly turned on and started spraying his blood the way it would water. There were two pairs of naked boobs and many scantily clad ladies for the viewers to enjoy.

My recommendation is to get drunk or high before watching this movie to increase your viewing pleasure. This movie is currently streaming on Netflix.

Marx Great Garloo and Big Loo

2            1

Technically not monsters (though Garloo is definitely monster-ish) but they ARE in my mind because of their MONSTEROUS SIZE!…

2By the mid-1960s, Marx was making odd and AMAZING space robots and monsters, such as Big Loo (a moon robot that squirted water out of its navel) and Great Garloo, a green space monster that wore sandals and a leopard-skin loincloth. The Garloo was obviously used to terrorize many a little sister.

5Even though I never got one of these when I was a kid, I always LOVED and wanted Big LOO and Great Garloo. Sadly, they were very expensive for the time. I doubt there was a better toy ever created than Big Loo and Great Garloo. Just look at that face! My friends had these, and boy was I jealous! I always wanted to be the the lucky kid who received a monster robot pal! I would have never played with another toy afterwards (maybe LOL). Why would you? Between the both of them, Big Loo and Great Garloo had everything!  They could pick up things, had flashing eyes, shot out balls, wore a cool loincloth, had awesome colors, dealt with rockets and water blasts, included a whistle, had a compass and a chart for Morse Code, remote control and more!

6During the holiday season in 1963, a Big Loo robot was introduced to the toy market in limited quantities. Marx produced the 37-inch tall Big Loo Giant Moon Rocket, only an estimated 5,000 Big Loo units were produced and due to its high retail price of $29.95, he sold poorly and was sold for only one season. Since then, the toy has become a favorite among collectors.

Great Garloo was just (what can I say?) GRRRRREEEAT!!! He stormed the toy room like nobody’s business! Garloo ran over cars, Barbies, buildings etc. Everything in his way was trampled or picked up and moved by him! This killer green ogre was just the best thing rollin’ on 4 wheels!

Great Garloo was designed by Marvin Glass, the genius game designer who made Ants in the Pants, Dynamite Shack, Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots, Gnip Gnop, Hands Down, Haunted House, Lite Brite, Odd Ogg, Operation, Mouse Trap, Time Bomb, Tip-It, and Toss Across, among other masterpieces of primary-colored plastic.

GIRL POWER!

index(5) (1)

All Cheerleaders Die, directed and written by Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson, was released to VOD May 8, 2014. There will be a theatrical release June 13th. This film is a remake of their 2001 film of the same name.

The story revolves around a group of four cheerleaders, one of whom dies in a freak accident in the first five minutes of the movie. The cheerleader must be replaced and one of her friends, Maddy, tries out and is awarded the spot. Up until this point in her high school career Maddy has been on the outside of that social circle.  However,  she has an ulterior motive for befriending these girls and becoming a cheerleader. After an accident during a  night of drinking takes the lives of the remaining four girls —  all hell breaks loose. Get your candy, alcohol, and cigarettes and sit back and enjoy one hell of a ride.

images(6) (1)I had high hopes for All Cheerleaders Die and I was not disappointed. This film totally lived up to and exceeded my expectations. This a revenge flick with feminist undertones disguised as a horror comedy with a touch of Jennifer’s Body. You begin the film thinking that these young ladies are just a bunch of vacuous bitches you eventually care about them and what will become of them. For every girl who has ever been wronged by her boyfriend, whether it be emotionally or physically, you can live vicariously through Maddy and her friends to get your revenge and laugh while your doing it!

images(5)All Cheerleaders Die had some of everything including murder, stoners, witches, magic spells, naked boobs, and lesbian action. Oddly one thing it didn’t have was much in the way of was obscene language but I didn’t miss it. In the case of the witch, think Misty Day from American Horror Story : Coven. I enjoyed every moment of this film and it is one I would buy. You can’t go wrong with 90 minutes of half naked beautiful girls, giggles and murder.  I paid $9.99 to rent from Comcast and it was worth every cent.

LITTLE MISS HORROR NERD’S RATING: 5 out of 5

A little bit of trivia : “Take A Bite of My Heart” one of the songs on the soundtrack is by Sianoa Smit- McPhee who also played Leena Miller in the film.

The directors have said they decided to remake this film because they shot the 2001 video right after graduating from college.
